Kids Writing About Their Pets. (Perfect Love)

Kids and their pets.  What they share is a perfect kind of love that is an unbeatable combination.  How could it possibly get better?

When you’re a kid writing about YOUR pet.  Which is what HRD and the Fairport Public Library thought would be a Great Idea.

And it was!

We’re very excited to announce all of the winners. There were four.  First place went to Mia Trovato.  Mia wrote about how she and her family adopted a German Shepherd from Big Dogs Big Hearts.

Mia’s story will be published quite soon. But. We thought you’d like to see what a gorgeous dog Devo’s become.

You’ll have to wait a bit to find out what Devo’s favorite toy is, and how he met his forever family.

Our second place winner is Becky Park.  She wrote about what it was like to adopt a dog from Lollypop Farm.  We might be getting ahead our ourselves, but, we wanted to show you what Becky’s dog looks like too.

This is Buckley.  Isn’t he adorable? Wait until you read what Becky has to say about him!

We awarded third place to Amy Frankovich. Amy wrote a “hair-raising” story about Julie, the cat.  Finally, Honorable Mention went to Phoebe Uman for the essay she wrote about Balto and Togo.

Thank you to all of our contestants and my special thanks to the Trovato and Park families for allowing my husband and myself to come out and photograph your pets. We hope you had as much fun as we did!  [gplus count=”true” size=”Medium” ]
