My New York State of Mind … Thinking About Puppy Mills.

Welcome to my New York State of Mind as I sit here, sorting through words in the early morning darkness – trying out different opening sentences while I figure out the direction I want to take.

I don’t have the luxury of a lot of time today because I have an 8AM dentist appointment coming up. Hello, root canal!

Which is SO not the point.

It’s been a busy time in my New York neighborhood lately – with a lot of folks up in arms as the news of a puppy mill wholesale commercial dog breeding facility swept across the local news a few days ago.

Lucky for me, Joanne Brokaw took it upon herself to write an in-depth post about this so that I didn’t have too! Not to say that I didn’t think about writing my own post, because I did. And, I spent a lot of time over the weekend tracing the back story through links pointed to where everything seems to have started: in another rural community in New York.

I signed an online petition calling for a reversal in the decision to allow this facility to be built because (as I added in the comment section) nothing good ever comes out of a puppy mill.

Except a number of hard-hitting books that you can find if you go over to Amazon and do some poking around. Or, better yet, check out my next blog post.  One great book review coming right up.  [gplus count=”true” size=”Medium” ]
