It’s Christmas Eve morning, coming up on 6AM and the early part of my day: feed cats, start the coffee, dogs out, dogs in, feed dogs, pour that first cup of coffee, put one dog back outside, wait for her to come back inside before grabbing my coffee and heading back upstairs … that part of my day is done. Time to get this show on the road!
In a manner of speaking.
First things first.
If you’ve come over from Amazon after reading the Author’s Page that I created after I self-published my very first book, Love Always Wags Its Tail – The Dogs That Changed My Life, welcome to my world on the net. I’ve been quietly blogging here for almost three years about the things that are important to me. I knew, before I started this blog, that one of the things I wanted was to write books and that the blog itself would serve as a rough draft for the very first one. It is beyond amazing that I can finally shout to the roof tops that I did it!
My book is SO live on Amazon!
There’s a lot more to talk about including that infamous phrase, ” … I self-published…” which I will tackle over the next couple of weeks.
Depending on how closely you follow what’s been happening in the publishing world, that phrase is one that leaves you clueless – as in “what the heck is that all about?” – one that you feel is somehow suspect – as in “it’s not an authentic book if it wasn’t published by a traditional publishing house.” – one that you celebrate because like me, you’ve been a student of this fast-changing industry and you’re either already self-publishing or you’re thinking about doing just that.
For those of you who subscribe to my occasional newsletters or who have been loyal readers from the beginning, I did promise to “heads you up” about how you could get this book for free. Here’s how that works:
I’ve enrolled Love Always Wags Its Tail in Amazon’s exclusive KDP select program which means that for 90 days, Amazon has exclusive publishing rights. In return, they agree to support my marketing campaign within the Amazon community. A part of this program includes my offering Love Always Wags It Tail as a free download five times within that 90 day period.
You will be able to download my book, for free, on December 26th and December 27th.
If you love paperbacks you may want to wait until early January which is when I plan to launch the paperback version through the publishing arm of Amazon that’s called “Create Space.” It’s a Print on Demand (POD) service which means that the book gets published in paperback only when someone orders it. Welcome to the 21st century of responsible publishing.
And, as a reminder, however you choose to purchase my book, you’ll be supporting an organization called the American Brittany Rescue (ABR) organization because a portion of the proceeds from the sales of Love Always Wags Its Tail will be donated to them. Rescue was such a huge part of my life for so many years that I wanted this book to have a larger purpose. As for why I chose ABR? The answer’s in the book!
