Lock Arms Against Black Dog Syndrome.

Last night, I went with my son to the Green Lantern Inn, in the village of Fairport. I was his date for Lollypop Farm's annual banquet for almost 230 of its volunteers - which included my son. He's one of the volunteer dog walkers. There was a social hour before we sat down to dinner which I put to good use by scoping out the appetizer table and keeping an eye out for people I'd know. Sure enough, as I helped myself to cheese and crackers, I bumped into a friend of mine. I found myself … [Read more...]

Sometimes, Love Is A Dog Harness Attached To A Vision

Symbolism can be a murky thing, even when it's as plain as the nose on your face or in the eye of the beholder. Wanted: Forever Home For Awesome Happy Tails’ Dog

This is a medium sized, black dog - one of the lake dogs that I get to play with every August when my family goes on vacation. She's sweet tempered,  likes to fish, and her name is Lulu. Pet Connections: Teachers And Students Together.

Life is kinda cool when you're a dog in the Pet Connection program out at the Ontario Arc. You get your own bones to chew, lots of attention and people to brush out your fur. Which is what happened last Friday when I went out to visit Brutus volunteer. Friday was one of those weather-perfect spring days when there was no better place to be than outside, especially if you're a dog with a double coat that needed to be brushed. And brushed.  Before Brutus' dog trainers-in-training had … [Read more...]

Fashion With A Purpose for Pet Connections Program

This is Albert James modeling the latest in canine fashion:  a "dog slip cover" for a dog collar. I like to call it "fashion with a purpose." Here's one cool thing about this slip cover.  If you're out on a trail with your dog or just walking around the block and you don't want all of your dog's tags to jingle and clank, you can slide one of these slip dog collar covers over your dog's collar and quietly walk your dog. It's easy and works like this: The slip dog collar covers come in … [Read more...]
